Under the direction of Paul Criscuolo, Vice President, General Manager of Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division, which encompasses North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia and is a division of Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc., the Company is a consistent and dedicated contributor to many charitable causes throughout the three states. Mr. Criscuolo said: “Here at Southern, giving back to the community is something our employees and executives do on a daily basis, and our dedication to being a socially responsible corporate citizen is equally strong. We are proud of our involvement in local groups and deserving organizations in North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.”
I. Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division-North Carolina and the Fraternal Order of Police
Every year the Company donates to a local chapter of the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police in Wake County, which includes the city of Raleigh. The proceeds of the donation benefit the group’s annual “Shop with a Cop” program, which during the holiday season, involves under-privileged children who are accompanied by a police officer to help these youngsters with their holiday gift-giving.
II. Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division-North Carolina and the American Cancer Society
In tribute to the memory of Company employees, or their family members, who have passed on, the Company and its team members have made annual donations to either a chapter of the American Cancer Society or local hospices, according to Denise Warren, Vice President, Finance or Human Resources, Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division.
III. Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division-Virginia and the Kiwanis Club, Richmond, Virginia
The Richmond chapter of the Kiwanis Club is a non-profit organization that operates many programs benefitting children in the area and the Company supports the Club’s annual “Beeper Ball” event (a kind of dodge ball competition) involving young children in an organized sports activity.
IV. Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division-Virginia and the American Cancer Society
In tribute to the memory of Company employees or their family members who have passed on, the Company and its team members have made donations to either local chapters of the American Cancer Society or local hospices.
V. Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division-West Virginia and Hospice Care in Charleston, West Virginia
In 2007, the Company sponsored tables and contributed beverages to a fundraiser held at the Chophouse Restaurant in Charleston. The proceeds of the annual event are earmarked to support a local hospice, according to Jay Davis, Vice President, Southern Wine & Spirits Mid-Atlantic Division-West Virginia.
