Patrick Daul’s responsibilities encompass the product portfolios of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, Diageo Spirits and Moët Hennessy USA. He manages the sales teams of Pacific Wine & Spirits throughout California and fosters relationships with the company’s key customers.
Armed with a B.A. in business and marketing, Mr. Daul got his start in the wine and spirits trade in 1980, as a management trainee at E & J Gallo Winery. He also held management positions at Chateau St. Michelle and Chateau St. Jean before joining Southern in 1993. Mr. Daul assumed his current position as Vice President and General Manager of Pacific Wine & Spirits of California in early 2005. Before then, he held the following positions at SWS: Wine Sales Manager, SWS Northern California; Vice President General Sales, American Wine & Spirits of Northern California; Vice President of PWS, Northern California.
Mr. Daul’s business philosophy focuses on facilitating the work of others: “I’m about the team,” he says. “You surround yourself with great people, give them the tools to become successful, support them, and stay out of their way.”
It’s a guiding principle that has served the company well.
With Mr. Daul at the helm, the Pacific Wine & Spirits sales division has garnered the Diageo Chateau & Estate Distributor of the Year Award for four out of the last five years.
Yet the Green Bay, Wisconsin, native is especially honored by the football – displayed in his office – that was autographed by his managers and presented to him as a token of their appreciation years ago. “There’s no bigger award than being recognized by the people you work with,” he says.
Mr. Daul supports the athletic programs of De La Salle High School and St Isidore elementary school and the ASA Basketball Programs in the East Bay. A loyal Green Bay Packers fan who enjoys working out, Mr. Daul devotes weekends to his two sons’ sports activities.
