(Southern)—the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor with operations in 35 states—announced today the acceptance of the African Leadership Magazine’s 2014 U.S.-Africa Business Leadership Award presented during the 1st Annual U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. The award paid tribute to Southern’s dedication to distribution of indigenous South African wines from the land of the great Nelson Mandela.

Miami, Florida, July 8, 2014 – Step Up For Students announced today that Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern), the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor, has committed $30 million to the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program for the 2014-15 school year. Southern’s commitment is the largest single contribution to date in the nonprofit organization’s 12-year history, and will fund more than 5,500 scholarships.
