Miami, Fla., August 27, 2014 — Mel Dick, President, Wine Division, and Senior Vice President, Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern)—the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor with operations in 35 states—announced today the acceptance of the African Leadership Magazine’s 2014 U.S.-Africa Business Leadership Award presented during the 1st Annual U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. The award paid tribute to Southern’s dedication to distribution of indigenous South African wines from the land of the great Nelson Mandela.

Southern Wine & Spirits of America National Scholarship Program

Since 1998, Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern) has sponsored an annual National Scholarship Program open to the children of qualified employees of the company. College-bound children of Southern employees who have been with the company on a permanent basis for at least two years are eligible to submit a competitive scholarship application every year for grants ranging from $1,500 to $2,500 per year for post-secondary education at an academic, vocational or technical institution.

SWSA Celebrates Five Years of Step Up For Students Participation with $30 Million Contribution—The Largest to Date

Miami, Florida, July 8, 2014 – Step Up For Students announced today that Southern Wine & Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern), the nation’s leading wine and spirits distributor, has committed $30 million to the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program for the 2014-15 school year. Southern’s commitment is the largest single contribution to date in the nonprofit organization’s 12-year history, and will fund more than 5,500 scholarships.
